Summary
On the eve of the 2000 presidental election, playwright/novelist/historian Gore Vidal, whose 1960 play The best man is currently being revived on Broadway, is welcomed by Theater talk hosts Michael Riedel and Susan Haskins. The play concerns two presidental candidates vying for their party's nomination. Vidal explains why he believes his play remains relevant, and gives his view of the American political landscape. He expounds on the creation of his work, and whether his two main characters are based on actual political figures.
