Description
  1. 1 videodisc (DVD) (29 min.) : sd., col. SP; 4 3/4 in.
Summary
  1. Costume designer Carrie Robbins discusses her career with Newsday critic Linda Winer. Best known for her re-creation of the 1950s look in the hit musical Grease, Robbins has designed costumes for more that 30 Broadway shows, major operas and even a season of Saturday night live. Robbins describes how she now uses a computer to produce her meticulous sketches; how she created the costumes for Grease on a very tight budget; teaching costume design, in which she seeks to impart the art and craft, as well as the business aspects to her students. Robbins relates that her interest in working in the theatre started in set design, but when a professor told her that "women don't design sets," she changed her course of study to costume design, which may explain her technical approach to costumes.
