Summary
The Ted Bloecher papers consist of correspondence, personal journals, writings, theater memorabilia, and reference files reflecting the daily life of an actor and singer in New York City, gay life before and after the Stonewall Riots, and thirty years of UFO research. The bulk of the collection consists of correspondence, in chronological order, with friends, family members, singers, actors, and UFO researchers, including Leon Davidson, Isabel Davis, Donald E. Keyhoe, James W. Moseley, Edward J. Ruppelt, and Leonard H. Stringfield. Bloecher's journals document the daily life of a gay man, primarily in New York City, with reference to the impact of the AIDS epidemic. Writings include an unpublished musical comedy, Something in the Air, a research paper, a memoir describing a summer spent in Provincetown, Mass. in 1951, and poetry. Chronological reference files documenting his membership in the New York City Gay Men's Chorus include official publications, minutes, programmes, reviews, and fundraising and publicity materials. Annotated playbills and clipped reviews of other theatrical and musicial performances he attended are found in correspondence files.
