  1. Collaborators Leonard Bernstein, John Guare, Stephen Sondheim and Jerome Robbins first worked on this project in 1968 with the intention of casting Zero Mostel in the lead role. In this 1987 workshop staging, Mostel's son Josh plays the role written for his father.
