Summary
  1. This program includes a panel discussion of the 2002 New York City Opera production of John Philip Sousa's The glass blowers, interspersed with performances of songs and duets from the operetta. Panelists discuss the restoration of Sousa's music and Leonard Liebling's libretto from manuscript versions of the score and reviews of the original 1913 production. Other topics include the music's bridging of European operetta and American musical theater styles and the use of marches in Sousa's operettas.
