This program includes excerpts from choreographer Angelin Preljocaj's three-act ballet Le parc, choreographed for Le Ballet de l'Opéra Nationale de Paris. Le Ballet de l'Opéra director of dance Brigitte Lefèvre gives introductory remarks about the company, noting that the New York engagement will also include a presentation of late company director Rudolf Nureyev's staging of La bayadère. Preljocaj provides commentary on Le parc, which portrays the stages of courtship and love, drawing on tropes from 17th and 18th-century French literature.
