- Raw interview footage used for the documentary Broadway, the American musical. Actress Carol Channing discusses her love affair with the theater. She speaks of seeing her first musical Irving Berlin's As thousands cheer at the Kern Theater in San Francisco, in which Ethel Waters sang Suppertime, an early song addressing the subject of lynching. Channing also discusses her childhood, including performing in school from the age of seven, being an only child, and her relationship with her father; theater caricaturist Al Hirschfeld, and the publication of his drawing of her as Lorelei Lee in the musical Gentlemen prefer blondes; her embodiment of the characters she portrays; Broadway audiences in comparison with other audiences; the importance of touring, and how she conducts her touring; Broadway star Ethel Merman; director Gower Champion and songwriter Jerry Herman, including their respective roles in making the musical Hello, Dolly! a success; how she keeps the role of Dolly Levy, which she has performed over 5,000 times, fresh; the American musical as a reflection of American society; seeing a predominantly Asian production of Hello, Dolly! at Lowell High School, which she formerly attended; the future of the musical; the contribution of the Russian Jewish immigrant community in New York's Lower East Side to the development of the American musical; changes to Broadway over time; and theater critic Walter Kerr.

- Broadway, the American musical, which aired on PBS in October 2004, is a documentary chronicling the entire history of the Broadway musical. Each of its six episodes covers a different era in American theater history, and features the Broadway shows and songs which defined the period. The series draws on feature films, television broadcasts, archive news footage, original cast recordings, still photos, diaries, journals, first-person accounts, and on-camera interviews with many of the principals involved in the development of the genre.
