- Summary
The Brainerd Kremer scores contain published sheet music, unpublished sketches, lead sheets, and piano/vocal scores of works composed and/or arranged by Kremer. Included as well are draft manuscript pages that eventually were published. Among Kremer's published music instructions books in the collection are 39 Steps to Play the Piano, 34 More Hit Parade Extra's for All Organs, Another 34 Hit Parade Extras for Organs, and Kremer's Chord Studies.
- Biography
Brainerd Kremer (full name, James Brainerd Kremer III, 1907-1963) was a prolific arranger and composer of popular and jazz music, who also wrote several music instruction books. Born in Montclair, New Jersey, Kremer composed and arranged nearly one hundred pieces of music. He also was the author of several piano and organ instruction books, including 39 Steps to Play the Piano and Kremer's Chord Studies. In addition to his musical talents, Kremer was interested in stamps and the postal history of France, publishing a monograph, French Philatelic Facts.
