This is a synthetic collection consisting of manuscripts and typescripts, correspondence by and about the author, legal and financial documents, and portraits. The manuscripts and typescripts include poems, plays, outlines for plays, screen treatments, and scenarios, as well as essays and articles about O'Neill by George Cram Cook, Elliot Harold Paul, and others. The correspondence consists of letters written by the author, dating from 1914 to 1941, to Clayton Meeker Hamilton, James Light, Beatrice Ashe Maher, and others. There are also letters relating to the author, dating from 1934 to 1963, between various correspondents including Horace B. Liveright, Elliot Harold Paul, Frances Steloff, and others.
