Note
  1. [A word of truth!! Worthy audience! Since the time the Yiddish theatre was established, never has such a splendid play been performed. On taking leave of the play, the audience's voices of laughter can still be heard throughout the theatre. Actors fall off their benches from laughing so hard. Every scene is an ocean of pleasure, every act a world of happiness. Since for most of the season the theatre has fed its audience sad images and tragedies, to close the season we decided upon a comedy, and to present the comedy as if it were taking place in ancient times when it was known that a theatre was a place of entertainment since people have enoughmisery at home. So don't forget to come to the Thalia Theatre not only to see the chef d'oeuvre of a prominent writer but to witness a real joy...Come see a new play, of new trends, that has been newly born of new times. -The Company]
  2. [Do not divulge! Prof. M. Horowitz is preparing for the close of this season to present a Declaration of War! Against all the new writers. He writes day in and day out in his office to bring to his public a masterpiece that will shock.]
  3. [Sabbath matinee, April 30 1898 "The Small Shtetl Aristocrat."]
