Summary
Disc 1 (ca. 27 min.). Introduction by Randy Boursheidt describing the occasion for the meeting as a means to mark the completion of the Dance archive on the website [http://www.artistswithaids.org/artforms/dance/index.html] for the Estate Project for Artists with AIDS, as well as the publication of David Gere's book, How to make dances in an epidemic: tracking choreography in the age of AIDS (2004); Brad Walters gives an introduction to the Estate Project website; Gere speaks about the projects, including his feelings regarding the need to add an emotional dimension to the public record in the form of zlovey letters to individuals lost to AIDS. Attendees at the gathering read such letters as a first step in submitting them for publication on the website. The following participants read letters dedicated as indicated: David Gere to Bill [William] Huck; John Rockwell to Dale Harris.
Disc 2 (ca. 27 min.). The reading of the letters continues: Wendy Perron to Harry [Whittaker] Sheppard; Deborah Jowitt to John [W.] Wilson; Gay Morris to Robert Joffrey; George Dorris to Oleg Kerensky and Ernest David Cohen; Jane Goldberg to Barry Laine; Joseph Carman to Gregory Osborne.
Disc 3 (c. 30 min.). The reading of the letters continues: Lynn Garafola to Vicente Garcia Marquez; Mindy Aloff to John Curry; Elizabeth Zimmer to Burt [Burton] Supree; Uttara Asha Coorlawala to Nala Najan; Chris Dohse to Bill Partlow; Susan Kraft to Chris Komar; Susan Marshall to Arthur Armijo; and Andrew Boynton to Arthur Armijo.
Disc 4 (ca. 14 min.). Randy Bourscheidt reads a brief tribute by Kevin McKenzie to Clark Tippet. David Gere speaks about AIDS internationally, particularly in India and the relationship of the art community to the crisis; other aspects of the Estate Project website; the link between the dance archive project and Gere's book.
