Empty arms is a multi-media work including video, recorded sound and live performance, creating a series of vignettes that explore racial themes in the film Imitation of life. Empty arms consists of ten sections: I. Maid, matriarch or mammy; II. Panavision dreams; III. Witness: ABT; IV. Evidence: once; V. Soft targets; VI. Panavision dreams; VII. Witness: Mr. So and So; VIII. Evidence: two; IX. Panavision dreams; X. Spirits in the dark.
