Biography (note)
Ocean was originally conceived by Merce Cunningham and John Cage, based on the writings of James Joyce. It was completed after Cage's death with music by Andrew Culver and David Tudor, based on Cage's ideas. It premiered at the Cirque Royal, Belgium, May 18, 1994.
