This panel discussion focusses mainly on Merce Cunningham's collaborations with visual artists. Trevor Carlson speaks about Cunningham's influence on the development of dance. Laura Kuhn speaks to Cunningham about how and why he started drawing. Cunningham speaks about his collaborations with Robert Rauschenberg, including Rauschenberg's set for Minutiae; and discusses how he, John Cage, and Rauschenberg all worked in various media and art forms. Carlson and Cunningham discuss the Cunningham company's Events, and Cunningham speaks about the set for Walkaround time, created by Jasper Johns based on Marcel Duchamp's Large glass. Cunningham discusses his interest on animal movement and its relation to dance; the development of his dance technique; and the effect of technology on dance. A question-and-answer session follows.
