Description
1 videodisc (PAL) (94 min.) : sd., col.; 4 3/4 in.
Summary
This disc contains footage filmed for a German television segment on the first Kunstenfestival des Arts in Brussels. Merce Cunningham speaks to reporters about the score for Ocean, its performance in the round, the collaborators who worked on Ocean, and the reason for its title. An hour of excerpts from a performance of Ocean at the festival follow. Festival founder Fri Leyson is interviewed about the festival's origins, its significance in bringing together the French and Flemish cultures of Belgium and reflecting the European situation, its sources of funding and the inclusion of Chinese works. The last 8 min. of the disc contains an edited compilation of the preceding footage, with voice-over translations in German, probably for a television segment.
