Cast replacements included Treat Williams and Gary Sandy for the Pirate King, Kaye Ballard for Ruth and Maureen McGovern, Karla De Vito and Pam Dawber for Mabel and Patrick Cassidy for Frederic. The road company opened with Barry Bostwick, Jo Anne Worley, Pam Dawber and Andy Gibb, and James Belushi replaced Bostwick as the Pirate King. The original Broadway cast, with the exception of Angela Lansbury who played Ruth, performed in the 1983 film version released by Universal Pictures.
