- Summary
- Ananda Shankar interviews Merce Cunningham on the occasion of the Cunningham company's return from a tour of India. Cunningham speaks about his company's two visits to India; the training given to students at his school; his philosophy of dance; the relationship between music and dance in his work; how dancers perform his choreography. Shankar comments on differences between Indian classical dance and the Cunningham style, and his father Ravi Shankar's visits to the United States. The 15-minute interview is followed by retakes of questions by Shankar.
