Description
1 videocassette (VHS, NTSC) (107 min.) : sd., col.; 1/2 in.
Summary
Part of The Studies Project, an ongoing series of discussions, performances, and other presentations. The program is preceded by views of Moving words, an art installation created as part of a workshop taught by Ann Cooper Albright. The program opens with performances by the panelists. In the discussion, which begins at ca. 36 min. into the tape, they talk about the process of using language and movement: the interaction of mind and body; different sources and forms of text (e.g., sounds, songs, poetry, journal entries, dialogue); their purposes in using language; the use of improvisation in both language and dance; the interaction of text and movement during the creative process; whether the use of language shifts dance into a different artistic category; and other topics.
