Summary

1. Inside/out is a series of outdoor programs in which artists perform and discuss their choreography with audiences in an informal setting. In this program, Susan Marshall speaks about her work, answers questions from the audience, and presents excerpts from Trio in four parts, Arms, Ward, and Arena. Marshall discusses her use of gesture to create narrative, her working methods, and the qualities she looks for in dancers. Dancer Jackie Goodrich comments on working with Marshall. The remainder of the tape contains part of a performance by the Merce Cunningham Dance Company in the Ted Shawn Theater.
