Summary
  1. Tribute to dancer Gene Kelly, recipient of the American Film Institute's Life Achievement Award for 1985. Film clips and speeches by his co-stars and colleagues celebrate his achievements as dancer, choreographer, and director. In addition, Gregory Hines dances to the song "'S wonderful"; and Cyd Charisse, Donald O'Connor, and Debbie Reynolds, Kelly's co-stars in Singin' in the rain, join writers Betty Comden and Adolph Green in serenading him with the "Lucky star" song from that film. The entire assembly shares in singing "When Irish eyes are smiling" at the close of the program.
