Summary
  1. This program was presented for the opening night of the fiftieth season at Jacob's Pillow. After the performance of O brother sun and sister moon, Liz Thompson, director of Jacob's Pillow introduces the program. Thompson presents gifts honoring Edward Villella, Ben Vereen and Ben Sommers. A recording of Ted Shawn speaking about Edward Villella is played. Villella's gift is accepted in his place by Violette Verdy. After the performance of the pas de deux from Flower festival in Genzano, Frank Andersen of the Royal Danish Ballet speaks about the Bournonville program and introduces some of the dancers. Ben Vereen, whose arrival was delayed, accepts his gift, and Liz Thompson reads a telegram from Nancy Reagan recognizing Jacob's Pillow's fiftieth season. At the beginning of the second cassette, before the performance of excerpts from Napoli, Frank Andersen speaks about the Royal Danish Ballet's connections with Jacob's Pillow and presents a bust of August Bournonville to Liz Thompson.
