Biography (note)
  • Arthur Elmore Bostwick (1860-1942) was Head Librarian of the New York Free Circulating Libraries from 1895-1897. In 1901 he was hired by John Shaw Billings, first Director of The New York Public Library, to establish NYPL's Circulation Department (renamed the Branch Libraries in 1966). He was Chief of the Circulation Department until 1909 when he left to become head of the St. Louis Public Library.

Biography
Arthur Elmore Bostwick (1860-1942) was Head Librarian of the New York Free Circulating Libraries from 1895-1897.
