  1. This is a synthetic collection consisting of manuscripts, typescripts, and correspondence. The manuscripts and typescripts include plays, poems, and translations. The correspondence includes letters from the author, dating from 1854 to 1895, to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, James R. Osgood, Algernon Charles Swinburne, John Greenleaf Whittier, and others, as well as letters relating to the author, dated 1907, between Marie Hansen Taylor, Stan V. Henkels, and James H. Manning. There are letters to Taylor from Ralph Waldo Emerson, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, James Russell Lowell, William Makepeace Thackeray, and John Greenleaf Whittier, dating from 1850 to 1878.
