Summary

Quarter-length studio portraits and group portraits of community activist and charity organizer Phyllis R. Oliver, from the mid-1940s to the mid-1950s. Collection consists of studio portraits of Oliver as president of the Aeolian Ladies of Charity (n.d.); chairperson of the Urban League Committee of Organizations, Harlem Mobilization Campaign (n.d.); and chairperson of the Uptown Canister Drive for Lighthouse, the New York Association for the Blind (1953). Also included are group portraits showing Oliver, who received a citation at an Urban League gathering, with Urban League executive Edward S. Lewis, educator William H. Kilpatrick, and Savoy nightclub manager Charles Buchanan, among others (1949); with Dr. and Mrs. Hudson Oliver at a dinner for Ray Jones (1949); at two separate events with philanthropist Winthrop Rockefeller (n.d.); with Ruth Toles at an Aeolian Ladies' gathering at the Renaissance Ballroom (1947); and with Maude Osborne and Sara Dunstan (1944).
