Summary
Scenic designer Jo Mielziner describes the process he followed in designing the original Broadway production of Arthur Miller's Death of a salesman in 1949. Beginning with his first reading of the script, Mielziner details his discussions with Miller and director Elia Kazan, and also analyzes some of the technical problems presented by the play. Mielziner speaks from a prepared text and addresses the camera; no interviewer is present.
