Summary
  • Disc 1 (ca. 67 min.) Jerome Robbins and composer Morton Gould work together on the music for Robbins' ballet, I'm old fashioned. Gould plays the piano and Robbins and Gould discuss Gould's score as it is played, including the relationship of the music to the original Fred Astaire dance on which the ballet is based, Gould's role in the project and the various technical aspects of the score. The recording contains numerous interruptions and pauses and includes a personal phone call by Robbins in which only Robbins' side of the conversation is heard.
  • Disc 2 (ca. 17 min.) Robbins and Gould continue to work together on the music for the ballet, I'm old fashioned. Recording consists primarily of Gould playing the piano score, including variation thirteen. Recording contains little commentary by Robbins or Gould.
