[Begins abruptly.] Jerome Robbins discusses his long association with theatrical director and producer George Abbott (1887-1995), including working with Abbott on On the town (1945); Abbott's influence on him; Abbott's personality and attitude towards working in the theater and with performers; Robbins' work with Abbott on A funny thing happened on the way to the forum (1962); Abbott's working style and his contribution to Broadway; more on Abbott's role in shaping On the town; Abbott's work with Robbins and composer Irving Berlin on Gypsy (1959); Abbott's response to choreography; attending each other's birthday celebrations [audio quality becomes poor for approx. 6 min. then becomes better]; interviewer Joy Abbott discusses Robbins' acknowledgement of Abbott's birthdays, and the book about Abbott on which she and Christine Dolen, a journalist who is also present at the interview, are working [ends abruptly].
