- This is a synthetic collection, created from materials acquired through gift and purchase from various sources. The bulk of the material is from Owen D. Young, W. T. H. Howe, Jerome Kern, William Winter, and Henry W. and Albert A. Berg. Hazlitt's poetry commonplace book includes a note on the fly-leaf: "This book belonged to Charles Lamb, Mary Lamb, Mrs. Sarah Stoddart Hazlitt, Mr. William Hazlitt, John Payne Collier, [and] Harry B. Smith" with S. Stoddart's name label. Barham's notebooks were a gift of Mr. & Mrs. Donald F. Hyde in honor of Dr. A. A. Berg.

- This is a synthetic collection that includes manuscripts, notebooks, letters, portraits of Scott, and drawings for his books, as well as legal and financial documents. It also contains original water color drawings by T. Stothard and John Masey Wright for Scott's novels. Also included are two notebooks of Richard Harris Barham and a commonplace book of S. S. Hazlitt, both of which include poems by Scott.The correspondence includes letters, dating from 1796 to 1831, from Scott to James Ballantyne, Lord Byron, James Fenimore Cooper, John Gibson, Lady Anne Hamilton, Sir Robert Peel, Lady Shelley, Sarah Kemble Siddons, Robert Southey, and others. There are also letters from 1817 to 1931 relating to the author between various correspondents including Washinton Irving, Henry Brevoort, W. Maxwell-Scott, Gabriel Wells, Algernon Charles Swinburne, and others.
