Summary

1. Jerome Robbins directs a rehearsal of Ives, songs. There are run-throughs of ten pieces; the second and the last four were not used in the finished version of Ives, songs. The first piece, The children's hour, is rehearsed with recorded music, the remainder are rehearsed with piano accompaniment and without a singer. Between the run-throughs Robbins's voice can be heard, sometimes announcing the next piece, and he appears on camera occasionally to give corrections to the dancers.
