Summary
  1. Morton Gould is interviewed, probably by Joel Gold, after a rehearsal of excerpts from Variations on I'm old fashioned. He talks about working with Robbins, and discusses his feelings about the project. Robbins enters the studio and joins the interview. They discuss the frustrations of collaboration; the origin of the project; the challenge of keeping the ballet centered around the the original Astaire-Hayworth dance from the motion picture You were never lovelier.   1. Variations on I'm old fashioned is a ballet tribute to Fred Astaire, with music by Morton Gould, based on Jerome Kern's song I'm old fashioned, from the motion picture You were never lovelier (Columbia, 1942). The ballet premiered on June 16, 1983.
  2. This tape is one of 36 made between Sept. and Nov. 1982 for a projected documentary on the making of I'm old fashioned. DeWitt Sage, Joel Gold and John Goberman were involved in the project, which was never produced.
