Description
1 videocassette (VHS, NTSC) (90 min.) : sd., col.; 1/2 in.
Summary
Jerome Robbins directs rehearsals of excerpts from Brahms/Handel. The taping consists of many brief clips. Some of the rehearsals take place in the studio and some on the stage of the New York State Theater. The versions of variations 11, 14, 13, and 18 that are rehearsed here were not used in the final version of Brahms/Handel. Two versions of variation 3 are rehearsed; the version that was used is a solo by the blue principal man. The principal man in green is danced in some rehearsals by Bart Cook and in some by Jock Soto. The principal man in blue is danced by Ib Andersen and Sean Lavery. The contents provided with the tape are incomplete. At the end of the tape there is further rehearsal of the theme and variations 1, 2, 4, 8, 10, 11, 12, 5 and 9. There are three run-throughs of the theme and variations 1-9, two with piano accompaniment and one with recorded orchestral music. At 13 minutes, a portion of the tape is damaged.
