Description
1 videocassette (VHS, NTSC) (107 min.) : sd., col.; 1/2 in.
Summary
Twyla Tharp directs rehearsals of excerpts from Brahms/Handel. The taping consists of many brief clips. Some of the rehearsals take place in the studio and some on the stage of the New York State Theater. At this point in the development of the ballet, Robbins and Tharp had each choreographed versions of some of the same variations. None of the versions in these rehearsals was used in the finished ballet except for variation 21, a solo by the blue principal man, and the pas de deux to variation 13. The pas de deux set to the theme was used in variation 18, and the duet by the two principal women set to variation 22 was used in the fugue. The contents provided with the tape are incomplete. There is further rehearsal of the theme and variations 5, 1, 3, 2 and 13 at the end of the tape.
