Description
1 videocassette (VHS, NTSC) (24 min.) : sd., col.; 1/2 in.
Summary
A run-through of the theme and variations 1-23 from Brahms/Handel. At this stage in the ballet's development, Robbins and Tharp had each choreographed versions of some of the same variations. The versions of variations 2, 4, 7, 13-18, 20, 22 and 23 that are rehearsed here were not used in the finished version. The pas de deux by the green principals (Cook and Calegari) set to the theme was also cut, but this choreography was used in variation 18. The version of variation 18 here became variation 20, and the version of of variation 22 was used in the fugue. At the end of the tape, two versions of the theme are rehearsed, one in which the green principals' pas de deux is danced simultaneously with the blue principals and corps, and one in which only the four principals dance. In the finished version, the theme is danced by the blue principals and corps only.
