Summary

1. Jerome Robbins and Twyla Tharp, assisted by ballet master Bart Cook, direct a rehearsal of excerpts from Brahms/Handel. Only the four principals' roles are rehearsed. Robert La Fosse, Maria Calegari, Jock Soto, Lauren Hauser rehearse in the foreground; alternate cast members rehearse at the back of the studio. Ib Andersen, who danced the blue male soloist's role in the original production of Brahms/Handel, demonstrates choreography and helps coach dancers rehearsing the role. The tape begins with an uninterrupted run-through of Brahms/Handel, omitting the variations in which the principals do not dance. For a rehearsal of the corps' parts, see *MGZIA 4-6187. There is more rehearsal of variations 10, 12, 14, 21, 22, 1, 3, 19, 8, 20 and 25. Robbins and Tharp give corrections and discuss choreography.
