"E pod is a member of the Merzaum Collective, in baltimore, which also encompasses CoAccident, E magazine, pod books, RoCo Books, Svexner Labs-attn: Acoustics & Widemouth Tapes." -- Verso of cover of issue no. 2. The name "Merzaum" was contructed by combining the dadaist Kurt Schwitters's "merz" with the Russian futurist Alexei Kruchenykh's "zaum". This combination was meant to represent the collective's political and linguistic views. Most members of the collective were particularly interested in the combination of sound and visual poetry, "language-centered" writing, improvising, and alternatives to capitalism and hierarchies, as through collaboration.
