Summary

1. Katherine Dunham, assisted by Vanoye Aikens, a member of her company, rehearses a group of dancers, possibly students, in excerpts from her works Choros and Cakewalk ; also included is a sequence of warm-up exercises, possibly from a choreographic work that incorporated them. The film contains many close-ups of faces and feet, and sustained views of the choreography are rare. Dunham herself, wearing a headwrap and dress, is occasionally seen demonstrating movements. The rehearsal was filmed by two cameras, and some of the material appears twice, shot from different angles.
