Note
  1. Edited by Joannes Ernestus Grabe, who migrated to England from Königsberg, received a pension from William III, and became chaplain of Christ Church, Oxford, in 1700. Only vols. 1 (1707) and 4 (1709) of this Septuagint had been published when Grabe died. His work was completed by Francis Lee, a miscellaneous writer, who edited v. 2 (1719), and William Wigan, who edited v. 3 (1720).
  2. Title to v. 1 reads: Septuaginta interpretum tomus I. Continens Octateuchum; quem ex antiquissimo MS. Codice Alexandrino accuraté descriptum, et ope aliorum Exemplarium, ac priscorum Scriptorum, praesertim vero Hexaplaris Editionis Origenianae Emendatum atque suppletum, additis saepe Asteriscorum & Obelorum signis, Summa cura edidit Joannes Ernestus Grabe S. T. P. Thus the text is based on Codex A. Any departure from that MS., in the way of correction or addition, are distinguished by smaller type. All words for which the editor found no equivalent in the Massoretic Hebrew are marked with an obelus; and such as he believed to be derived from a non-Septuagint source, with an asterisk. Each volume contains full prolegomena. The preliminary matter includes the half-title, frontispiece, engraved, as are the plates, by Van der Gucht, title (1707) dedication to Queen Anne, J. Pearson's Praefatio paraenetica, and a Postscriptum Editoris. Double columns; text not divided into verses (except in the poetical books), but with the verse-numbers in the text. The title page in each vol. bears an engraving of the Sheldonian Theatre, and gives the name of a London bookseller (R. Smith, or M. Smith, or H. Clement).
  3. Title transcribed from Darlow and Moule (no. 4733); part of title romanized.
  4. Frontispiece (v. 1) signed: "P. Berchet del." and M.V dr. Gucht sculp."
  5. Text printed in double columns without page or column numbers.
  6. Errata pages in v. 1 and 4 prepared by Humfrey Wanley.
