Biography
Liebler & Co. was a play production organization founded in 1898 by Theodore Liebler, Jr., and George Tyler, a practical printer. The company policy was to acquire plays written by famous American and European authors, and to produce them with prominent actors. Each year George Tyler made at least one trip abroad to see new plays and contract for their American production. He would also engage foreign stars of note and promise. Liebler & Co. were among the leading theatrical producers until the mid-1910s, when the increasing popularity of motion pictures began to have an impact on their business.
