Documentary on a symposium on Rudolf Nureyev, jointly organized by the Institute of the History of the Arts and Culture Center International, and sponsored by the Rudolf Nureyev Dance Foundation and the Trust for International Understanding. The Kirov dancers also appear in a performance presented in conjunction with the symposium, including excerpts from The sleeping beauty, Esmeralda, Grand pas classique, Le corsaire, and The dying swan. Nureyev himself is portrayed in montages of his many roles, with longer excerpts from Marguerite and Armand (with Margot Fonteyn) ; Les sylphides (with Fonteyn) ; Giselle, Act I (with Lynn Seymour) ; Swan lake ; Romeo and Juliet (with Fonteyn) ; Don Quixote ; Giselle, Act II ; The sleeping beauty ; and La sylphide.
