Summary
Bound volume, designed to commemorate the Shakespeare Memorial National Theatre Ball held at the Royal Albert Hall, London, June 20, 1911. The book was edited by Mrs. George Cornwallis-West, also known as Lady Randolph Spencer Churchill, and features brief essays written by George Bernard Shaw, G. K. Chesterton, C. Lewis Hind, Anthony Hope, I. Gollancz, and others. Illustrations feature society notables dressed as characters from the plays of William Shakespeare. This copy was originally presented to actress Mary Forbes, and tucked inside are two photographs of Mary Forbes' son, actor Ralph Forbes, probably taken in the 1930s.
