  • Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1854, Jennie Jerome was taken to Europe as an adolescent by her socially ambitious mother. In 1874 she married Lord Randolph Churchill, son of the Duke of Marlborough. After his early death in 1895 Lady Churchill became a journalist, editor, memoirist and playwright. She married twice more before her death in 1921 at the age of 67. Her elder son was Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965), English statesman. Mary Forbes was a stage, screen, and television actress, and mother of actors Ralph Forbes (1896-1951) and Brenda Forbes (1909-1996).
