- At age 80, actress Helen Hayes discusses her life and career with interviewer Schuyler Chapin. Speaking from Pretty Penny, her home in Nyack, N.Y., she reminisces about her career as a child actress, her early mentors such as actor/producer Lew Fields and actor/playwright William Gillette, her marriage to playwright Charles MacArthur, the death of their daughter from polio, her movie career, favorite stage roles, and famous friends such as Vernon Castle, F.
