1. Texts for nothing was originally produced in 1981 as Texts, by the New York Shakespeare Festival. It was adapted for the stage by Joseph Chaikin and Steven Kent from prose works by Samuel Beckett, and featured Joseph Chaikin. It was first staged under the title Texts for nothing in 1992, in a production featuring Bill Irwin.
