[Nureyev: a celebration] (ca. 5 min.) / recorded onstage at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York, N.Y., on June 27, 1988 ; event devised by Jane Hermann ; celebration of Rudolf Nureyev's 50th birthday. Nureyev, in evening clothes, is seen bowing to the audience, along with costumed dancers of the Paris Opéra Ballet. Among the luminaries assembled onstage to honor him are Mikhail Baryshnikov, Margot Fonteyn, Lincoln Kirstein, Peter Martins, Maria Tallchief, and John Taras.

Report on Rudolf Nureyev's return to Ufa, Russia, to visit his dying mother ; includes excerpt from a 1986 interview as well as an interview recorded at the airport, and brief performance and rehearsal clips. In the latter, Nureyev is seen rehearsing his full-length Raymonda onstage with the Paris Opéra Ballet.
