Summary

1. Documentary on Nederlands Dans Theater III, a company of dancers over the age of 40. The program follows Karen Kain, a principal dancer with the National Ballet of Canada, on a visit to The Hague, home of all three Nederlands Dans Theater companies, in order to dance with NDT III in the gala opening of the Holland Festival. She and the company members discuss the dancer's view of aging both in its negative and positive aspects, balancing physical limitations with the benefits of maturity, experience and a new sense of freedom. The choreographers Jiri Kylian, Paulo Ribeiro and Patrick Delcroix present their own insights on working with mature dancers. The program includes footage of NDT III in rehearsal and performance of various works, as well as an excerpt from Autre part, danced by two younger dancers (Chisato Ohno and Ramon Reis), and excerpts from the gala performance of Arcimboldo, in which all three companies took part.
