- Summary
- The papers span 1965-99, and consist of correspondence to and from a number of international theatrical notables, including Arthur Miller, J. B. Priestley, Eugène Ionesco, Samuel Beckett, Al Hirschfeld, and others. The strength of the collection is in the fairly extensive correspondence with Arthur Miller and J. B. Priestley concerning Mr. Kurtz' French translations of their work, specifically Miller's INCIDENT AT VICHY and Priestley's THE SCANDALOUS AFFAIR OF MR. KETTLE AND MRS. MOON. Some of the Priestley correspondence is with his wife, Jacquetta, while business matters are negotiated with Mr. Priestley's agent. Correspondence with Marie Romaine Rolland, Eugène Ionesco, and René Maheu is in French; Samuel Beckett is represented by one brief note, in English.
