Biography
Maurice Kurtz (1913- ) is a writer, playwright, translator and adapter of plays, and also a co-founder of the International Theatre Institute. Early in his career, Maurice Kurtz worked at the Off-Broadway Studio Theater as an assistant to Erwin Piscator, for whom Mr. Kurtz adapted Tolstoy's WAR AND PEACE for the stage in 1942. He went on to translate and adapt other works as well as writing plays of his own, in addition to publishing books and articles on theater.
