  • La sylphide [excerpts] (ca. 40 min.) / recorded in rehearsal in the Kirov Ballet's studio, in practice clothes, with piano accompaniment. Nureyev warms up and chats with Ninel Kurgapkina (?), who supervised the rehearsals ; he then rehearses with Zhanna Ayupova (the sylphide), Tatiana Gumba (Effie), and other cast members.
  • Visit to Leningrad Choreographic Institute (ca. 10 min.) / accompanied by the press, Nureyev greets old acquaintances and views the school's exhibition of pictures and memorabilia of its distinguished graduates, himself among them.
  • Cassette 2. La sylphide [excerpts] (ca. 26 min.) / recorded in performance at the Kirov Theater ; includes part of Act I, beginning with the reel, and much of Act II ; danced by Nureyev (James), Zhanna Ayupova (the sylphide), Tatiana Gumba (Effie), and members of the Kirov Ballet.
  • Visit to Leningrad Choreographic Institute (26 min.) / continuation of the footage on cassette 1. Nureyev visits various classes, and is photographed at the barre of the classroom where he used to study. He briefly reminisces, in English, about his student days. He also visits a small theater where, he says, he prepared all his roles.
  • Reunion with Anna Ivanovna Udeltsova (ca. 7 min.) / Nureyev visits his first ballet teacher.
  • Cassette 3. Visit to the Hermitage art museum (ca. 18 min.).

Act I [excerpts] (ca. 28 min.) / recorded in stage rehearsal, without scenery, with the orchestra ; danced by Nureyev (James), Zhanna Ayupova (the sylphide), Tatiana Gumba (Effie), and members of the Kirov Ballet.
