He also discusses Nureyev's gradual disengagement from the Royal Ballet under the directorships of Kenneth MacMillan and Norman Morrice ; his effect on British male dancers ; his participation in the Royal Ballet's staging of Jerome Robbins's Dances at a gathering ; and two roles he created in his 50s, in Flemming Flindt's The overcoat [Cappotto] and Death in Venice.

In discussing Nureyev's activities as a conductor, Schaufuss recalls his conducting of the Mahler score for Béjart's Song of a wayfarer, which Schaufuss and Patrick Dupond danced at a gala in Berlin. In commentary for another program, he discusses Kenneth MacMillan's legacy and describes his creation of the title role in MacMillan's Orpheus.
  • Lynn Seymour (ca. 21 min.) / Speaking from her experience as a frequent partner of Nureyev, Seymour describes his qualities as a colleague, among them generosity, loyalty, and trust.
