Summary
Program spotlighting the work of five contemporary choreographers (in order of appearance): Moses Pendleton, Carolyn Carlson, Jean-Claude Gallotta, Maurice Béjart, and Alvin Ailey. With the exception of Béjart, each discusses his or her work and artistic intentions. Pendleton dances a solo, and excerpts from two works are danced by Pilobolus, the company he co-directs. Carlson dances on location in Venice. The Groupe Émile Dubois performs a work by Gallotta in the open air, and Gallotta himself dances a solo. In the studio, Béjart rehearses Jorge Donn in a solo, which is also seen in performance. Ailey rehearses Monique Loudières and Patrick Dupond, étoiles of the Paris Opéra Ballet, in his work Précipice, which is also performed in costume.
