Summary

1. The symbolic, abstract, and commercial value assigned to currency is explored in a look at the artist J.S.G. Boggs, whose work involves the replication of money, which he attempts to use in commercial transactions. Artist Barbara Kruger's juxtaposition of 'found' advertising graphics and photos with her own slogans challenges advertisers' underlying intentions. Playwright Arthur Miller examines power and how it is used, abused, and lost, in plays such as The crucible, Death of a salesman, and The price, each of which is briefly excerpted.
