Call number
*XM-2215
Note
Contains four examples of American wit and humor.
Edited by F.D. Vanover, for whom it was printed. Cf. Twain, M. "1601" (1936 Black Cat ed.), p. 36.
"Fireside conversation" is Mark Twain's "1601"; "Little Willie" is ascribed to Eugene Field; and "The old backhouse" has been variously attributed to James Whitcomb Riley and others. "A French crisis" has also been attributed to Eugene Field: cf. NUC pre-1956 NF 0124119 for another edition listed under his name; however Blanck found no evidence to support the attribution; cf. BAL, v. 3, p. 128.
